How important is my vote? In the presidential election of 2000, the election was decided by a little over 500 votes in Florida. I strongly suggest that you take the World's Smallest Political Quiz. You my be surprised with your results. In most of the US elections, there is a large precentage of the eligable voters that are not registered, and do not vote. This is a sad situation. Many people will vote for a Republican or a Democrat based on what they look like, how their parents voted, or what the politician are telling you. They will all tell you what they think that you want to hear based on polling that they have done. It is more important to look at their voting record and see how they have voted previously.

Voltaire once said:"In general the art of government consists in taking as much money as possible from one class of citizens to give to the other." This is very true in the US now. We have an income tax system in this country that is way too complicated and some people actually call it a form of slavery. Read the document for yourself. Politicians in this country have become too powerful and are hungry for your money so they can spend it on others to get their vote. The founders of this country did not imagine that the federal government would become so big and so powerful.

In my opinion, the size of the federal goverment needs to be reduced. we need to end the tax on our income. Take a look at the Americans for Fair Taxation web site to read about a new idea for paying for government. Many of our politicians do not like this idea because it will reduce their power over you. It is more important than ever for you to get registered to vote and to get out and vote. The power lies with the individuals to vote for the right person that will lead this country. You should also participate in the primary elections and all of the elections for local offices in your area. That is where most of the people that end up running for nationwide offices begin their political careers. Pass this information on to your friends and make sure that they also register and vote wisely.

Can the war on drugs be won? Let me first say that just because a drug is available, people should use good judgment before taking ANY DRUG, including prescriptions handed out by doctors. The government has been trying to fight the war on drugs since the early 20th century. You would think that they would have realized that this war can't be won using the tactics that the government are using. The government tried to control excessive drinking by instituting Amendment XVIII, dated 1919, but that was eventually repealed by Amendment XXI, dated 1933. That is when the government turned it's efforts to fighting the war on drugs and they have made no progress in nearly seventy years. Prohibiting drinking did not work and the war on drugs is NOT working.

All illegal drugs should be made legal and the government should set up controls for the sale of those drugs. The prices would go way down, and people would quit killing each other to get the money to buy the drugs. Terrorists are also known to be in the business of selling drugs to support their activities and this would remove one source of income for them. If a person becomes disabled because of the misuse of a drug, we, the other people who make wise choices in our lives should not have to support these people who make the wrong decision and use drugs. In countries where drugs are available, people do make the right decision and do not do drugs just because they are available.

How has the events of September 11th affected you? It has shown to me that there has to be something better than what we have here on this earth. The terrorists that did this said that they were doing it in the name of their god. They are not the first to say that and will not be the last. I have my religion and I look to it for support in these times. Many people only turn to religion in their times of need, and that can be expected. The number of people going to church went up in the few weeks after 9/11 and sadly, attendance has gone back down.

These people attacked us because we are successful, and there is nothing wrong with being successful. They are jealous of what we have and have tried to break the spirit of the American people. Instead, the have "awakened the sleeping giant" and the people behind these attacks will eventually get their justice.
